Dina Karaman (b.1986) is a filmmaker, video artist, archive researcher and exhibition scenographer. She makes experimental films intertwining found footage, documentary and fictional narratives. In her works, Dina is looking at official archival footage as a means of deconstructing the orthodox narratives of state propaganda, and probing home videos as a way towards gauging the many layers of collective and historical memory. Her works were presented at the duo exhibition Deep Play, VT Artsalon and Greater Taipei Biennale. Dina participated in film programmes of 17th Venice Architecture Biennale; a video exhibition the view from there, Sadie Coles HQ London; Moscow International Experimental Film Festival, Message to Man Film Festival, New Holland Island International Debut Film Festival, V Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art to name a few. Dina gives workshops on found footage in various film schools. She is currently based in Taipei, Taiwan.
